CHED has recently announced the opening of Online Application for its CHED CoScho Scholarship program for the year 2024-2025. The CHED CoScho Scholarship program is a program where scholarship grants are provided to the students of Coconut Farmers and their Families in the Philippines.

CHED CoScho Scholarship 2024

The Commission on Higher Education – CHED is responsible for administering and ensuring quality of education in the Philippines. With the help of various scholarship programs, CHED ensures that education is accessible to every Filipino.

CHED CoScho Scholarship grant is one of the scholarships offered by the Commission on Higher Education. This scholarship program is open to apply for all undergraduate students who are duly registered coconut farmers in the National Coconut Farmers Registry System (NCFRS) or their dependents who will enroll or are currently enrolled in agriculture, agricultural engineering, agribusiness management, agricultural economics and other programs identified by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA).

Objective of this scholarship

There are two main objectives for the formulation of CHED CoScho Scholarship and they are as follows:

  • The CHED CoScho program aims to raise social equity of coconut farmers and ultimately alleviate poverty through the provision of quality education to coconut farmers and / or their dependents;
  • The scholarship program is ultimately expected to improve agricultural productivity and modernization in the coconut industry by raising the knowledge of coconut farmers and/or their dependents on scientific advances in agricultural technology and other related fields and motivate the younger generation to be engaged in the agriculture sector.

Who are Covered under this program

The scholarship program is accessible to all interested, qualified and deserving coconut farmers and/or their families duly registered under the National Coconut Farmers Registry System.

Undergraduate Students who will enroll or currently enrolled in agriculture, agricultural engineering, agribusiness management, agricultural economics and other courses identified by the PCA are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

CHED CoScho Scholarship 2024 Benefits

CHED CoScho Scholarship provides a total scholarship grant of ₱195,000. This grant covers both Regular and other allowances, which are as follows:

Regular Allowances

A total of up to ₱80,000 is given to CHED scholars as regular allowance, which will cover the following:

  • A Stipend of ₱35,000.00 per semester / ₱70,000.00 per AY, which includes
    • Food,
    • Educational tours,
    • Transportation,
    • Projects,
    • Medical insurance,
    • Internet use and
    • Communication expenses
  • Books and learning materials allowance of ₱5,000.00 per semester / ₱10,000.00 per AY

Other Allowances

A total of ₱115,000 is given to scholars as other allowance, which will cover the following:

  • ₱75,000.00 – Thesis and / or OJT allowance
  • ₱10,000.00 – One-time attendance in local conference/fora should be related to the undergraduate program and to be given during the junior or senior standing. The activity should not be on the same HEI where the beneficiary is enrolled.
  • ₱30,000.00 – One-time financial assistance for the purchase of a laptop – to be given during the first year of scholarship grant.

Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship

To be eligible to apply for CHED CoScho Scholarship, one must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must be a Filipino citizen
  • He or She must be Graduating high school student/high school graduate with a general weighted average grade (GWA) of 80% or its equivalent or college student with earned academic units relevant to the degree programs identified by PCA with a GWA of 80% the previous semester or its equivalent;
  • The candidate shall pass the entry level requirements of identified State Universities and Colleges (SUCs);
  • He or She shall not be a recipient of any government-funded financial assistance program;
  • Must be Duly registered coconut farmer in the NCFRS or his/her dependent;
  • Must have a combined annual gross income of parents not exceeding ₱300,000.00.

Documentary Requirements

The list of documents required to apply for CHED CoScho Scholarship program are as follows:

  1. Birth Certificate issued by the Local Civil Registry or Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)
  2. Academic Records:
    1. For senior high school students – duly certified copy of the grades for Grade 11 and first semester for Grade 12;
    2. For senior high school graduates – form 138; and
    3. For applicants with earned units or currently enrolled in college – duly Certified Copy of Grades for the latest semester/term attended.
  3. PCA Certification. Only one family member shall be allowed to apply for the scholarship;
  4. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the last school attended;
  5. Proof of income – any of the following:
    1. Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of applicant and/spouse/parents/guardians if imployed;
    2. Certificate of Tax Exemption from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR);
    3. Certificate of No Income from BIR;
    4. Certificate of Indigency from their Barangay; or
    5. Certificate / Case Study from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
  6. Notice of admission from the HEI with collegiate degree offerings;
  7. Proof that the student applicant belonged to special group/s (if applicable); and
  8. Original Barangay Certification that parents/guardians and siblings had never attended college/university (if applicable).

Scholarship Application Timeline

  • The online application for CHED CoScho Scholarship 2024 is opened on March 11, 2024 and the application process is ongoing and open to apply now.
  • The deadline date to apply for CHED CoScho Scholarship 2024 is May 31, 2024.
