Nearly 12,000 Students Take DOST JLSS 2026 Examination

A total of 11,398 incoming third-year college students took the 2026 Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Examination held on June 28, 2026.

The examination was conducted in 109 testing centers nationwide, with an 88.5% turnout from the 12,880 eligible examinees.

The DOST JLSS is one of the scholarship programs for Filipino college students taking priority science and technology courses. Successful qualifiers will receive financial and academic support for the remainder of their undergraduate studies.

DOST JLSS 2026 Examination

According to DOST-SEI, a total of 12,880 examinees were eligible to take the 2026 JLSS examination, while 11,398 students actually took the exam.

Luzon recorded the highest number of examinees with 6,825, followed by the Visayas with 2,525 and Mindanao with 2,048.

Most testing centers conducted the examination on June 28. However, the Basco, Batanes Test Center held its examination on July 5 after the original schedule was postponed because of Tropical Cyclone Francisco.

The postponement was made to ensure the safety of the examinees and examination personnel.

What is the DOST JLSS Scholarship?

The Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Examination is conducted annually by DOST-SEI to identify qualified students who are pursuing priority science and technology programs.

The program supports students taking courses in areas such as:

  • Basic and applied sciences
  • Engineering
  • Science and mathematics teaching
  • Other priority S&T programs

The scholarship aims to help develop highly qualified science and technology professionals who can contribute to the country’s national development.

DOST JLSS Scholarship Benefits

Successful qualifiers of the 2026 DOST JLSS Examination will receive financial and academic support for the remainder of their undergraduate studies.

The scholarship benefits include:

  • ₱8,000 monthly stipend
  • Up to ₱40,000 tuition fee subsidy per academic year for scholars enrolled in private universities and colleges
  • ₱10,000 learning materials and/or connectivity allowance per academic year
  • One economy-class round-trip fare per year for scholars studying outside their home provinces
  • ₱10,000 thesis allowance
  • ₱1,000 graduation allowance
  • Up to ₱50,000 Research Dissemination Grant
  • Premium group accident and health insurance

When Will the DOST JLSS 2026 Results Be Released?

The official results of the 2026 DOST JLSS Examination are expected to be released in September 2026.

Applicants are advised to monitor the official communication channels of the DOST-SEI for the announcement of the results.

The successful qualifiers will then receive the scholarship benefits and academic support provided under the JLSS program.
