University of the Philippines offers free online courses for 2025

MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) will provide free online courses from January to December 2025.

“We are bringing you 44 FREE MOOCs [Massive Open Online Courses] covering a wide range of topics to spark your curiosity and fuel your growth,” UPOU wrote on its official Facebook page.

The UPOU added that all MOOCs are free, self-paced, and open, with electronic certificates that may be achieved and submitted to resumes as “16-hour training.”

Here are the courses that will be available between January to December:

  • Overview of Policies and Strategies for Climate and Disaster Resilience

  • Creativity and Innovation

If you have an existing MODeL account, self-enroll in the courses mentioned on UPOU’s website homepage: https://model.upou.edu.ph/.

If there are no MODeL accounts yet:

  1. Fill out the registration form at https://url.upou.edu.ph/upoumodel-signup.
  2. UPOU said accounts are created in bulk every Thursday, with a weekly cut-off of 4 p.m. on Wednesday; requests received after the cut-off will be processed the following week.
  3. Sign into your account after receiving your login information.
  4. Change your password to something more secure.

The university said that “Openg” or its chatbot can provide assistance via model.upou.edu.ph.
